Will stated that the main reason he has had a successful Hollywood marriage is because he and Jada have taken divorce out of the equation. He said that divorce is not an option. With that being the case for the couple, he stated that since they are going to be together, they will do their best to make each other happy. In a lot of ways, removing divorce as an option can be a very positive thing. If you never consider it, there should be no worry about ever having to deal with it.
However, in the real world, it is not as easy as Will may have made it sound. What works for him and his wife is not what works for every married couple. Yes, there is a such thing as being happily married but for others, sometimes marriage just doesn’t work out in the long term. Many couples marry for the wrong reasons such as marrying too young or doing it as a spur of the moment type of thing. Still many couples realize later in life that they just aren’t in love anymore or their spouse has changed. For better or for worse just doesn’t hold as much weight as it used to.
Divorce rates are still high and while some couples manage to work things out thanks to outside help like a marriage counselor, others rather end a bad marriage rather than be unhappy. Now a days, you just never know what you’re getting into. Even long-term relationships can crumble due to infidelity or even boredom. While I think Will’s philosophy on marriage and divorce is a good one, it just isn’t as cut and dry for most people.
