Although each year it seems like big name celebrities are coming to the awards show more and more, it still doesn’t make the event any better. Overall the show was boring and the best parts were the small clips shown in between the presentations. Mike Myers was the host but I saw more of him in the funny little clips than actually hosting.
I was surprised at how far back they reached for some of the nominees. Many of the films were fairly old like “Hairspray” and “Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End.” For example, Zac Efron won an award for his role in “Hairspray” and he even said he was shocked to have been nominated. They also gave away a special generation award to Adam Sandler. I suppose the MTV Movie Awards is the only venue in which Sandler would win any real award. Don’t get me wrong, he is funny, and he does what he does very well.
Again, the MTV Movie Awards is really pointless. The only reason I continued to watch was because there really wasn’t anything else entertaining on television. The way they run the awards show, I think MTV has a long way before any of their awards show can be taken halfway seriously.
