What took everyone by surprise was that the Britney impersonator is a man whose real name is Derrick Barry. I am sure people are searching for this guy just to see what he looks like dressed up as Britney Spears. He was quite impressive with all of the make-up, the wig, and outfit. The actual performance was so-so. I think he would have done better using one of her older songs such as “Oops I Did it Again” or “Hit Me Baby One More Time” rather than “Toxic.”
His make-up was dead on and really made him resemble Spears even more. I would like to see what he looks like without all of the make-up. He didn’t impress all of the judges, only 2 out of the 3. Sharon Osbourne was the most impressed by his overall appearance and performance. Pierce buzzed him right away and David Hasselhoff was questioning his sexuality because Derrick looked so much like a woman.
It will be interesting to see Derrick progress in the competition but I think he will need to up his routine. The audience loved him so I think he has a good chance of making it to the end. He is probably the best Britney Spears impersonator I have seen.
