This story just baffles me. Apparently a group of teen aged girls at a Massachusetts high school made a “high school pregnancy pact” to become pregnant and raise their children together.

Warning alarms went off when the Gloucester High School clinic was bombarded with girls asking to have pregnancy tests. The high school seems to have been overrun with pregnant teens and make an extra effort to help expectant mothers finish high school by providing day care for the babies. It seems these girls want to be pregnant so that they can receive the unconditional love they desire. They feel their babies will do that for them.

Times sure have changed since I was in high school. A pregnant teen was frowned upon back in my day. Buying a pregnancy test in high school would have been a major deal and if people found out about it, you would’ve been talked about for sure. These girls want to have pregnancy tests and many of them have succeeded in becoming pregnant. The high school pregnancy pact is probably a result of the young teens in the media like Jamie Lynn Spears getting pregnant at a young age.

Although Britney Spears was of age when she had children, she is still a teen icon and girls want to mimic her in every way possible, babies being no exception. I think the high school pregnancy pact is insane. These young girls have such bright futures and they are throwing it away to raise babies. It just goes to show how easily influenced these teens are and how the heck are their parents raising them?
