I find this one hard to believe but it appears to be very true that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is retiring from boxing. He made the announcement today and the fight against Cotto is no longer.

Floyd Mayweather will be leaving boxing with a record 39-0 and is one of the few fighters to leave the fight game without any losses. He has said that he no longer has the passion or desire to continue with the sport of boxing. This is a huge disappointment to fight fans who were expecting to see him matched up against Cotto. Mayweather is said to be leaving $20 million behind by retiring now.

While I agree money isn’t everything, I am sad to see him hang up his boxing gloves. I am a fan of Floyd Mayweather and have watched several of his last fights. His fight against Ricky Hatton was awesome and I didn’t have a doubt he wouldn’t win.

Who knows what the future may hold for Floyd, the announcement of his retirement may put even more money into the pot to bring him out of it. Money doesn’t seem to be an issue for Mayweather however, as it is his middle name. He isn’t hurting for cash - let’s just hope he doesn’t squander it like some other celebrities that have made headlines this week.
